Yes, I know where he took off from. But in reading about Novosibirsk, I read about a subway there dedicated to Gagarin. I understand you live in a large city so maybe there are many differently named subways, or it was changed.

My uncle worked for Nasa as an astrophysicist so the space programs in the world were always very interesting to me :)

Ok, I understand. I had never heard of Pokryshkin until you mentioned his name. Sad U.S. schools I guess. I am able to read about him now though, thank you.

It is interesting to get that kind of perspective - one you wouldn't normally hear about. I did find some videos of his flying on youtube :)
